Melania Trump And Michael Jordan Side With Lebron James After Donald Trump Calls Him Stupid

After Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James announced that he was opening a school for underprivileged children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, he sat down for an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon to talk about the new project. However, James’ also shared some of his political opinions, and that led to President Donald Trump insulting the NBA superstar on Twitter.
While talking to Lemon, James revealed that he thought the President used sports to divide people and noted that he would never sit across from Trump. He also said that we are a time in the United States where “this race thing has taken over,” and one of the reasons he thinks that has happened is because Trump tries to divide us.
Of course, in true POTUS style, Trump immediately responded on social media.
“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” the President wrote.

Trump was referring to Michael Jordan, who later issued his own statement defending James, saying that he is doing “an amazing job for his community.” But, he wasn’t the only one who supported James’ new school — First Lady Melania Trump is also a fan.
Through her spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, the FLOTUS praised James for opening the school and said that he is working to do good things for the next generation. She added that Mrs. Trump encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about the issues that children face today.
Mrs. Trump’s platform centers around the well-being and healthy living of children all over the world with her Be Best initiative, and she says that she would be open to the idea of visiting James’ I Promise School in Akron.

At the elementary school, underprivileged kids attend for free, plus they also get bikes and free college tuition. Serving at-risk and low-income students, the I Promise School also provides job placement assistance for the kids’ parents.
This isn’t the first time that the First Lady has disagreed with something her husband has said. Earlier this year, she spoke out via Grisham about the President’s immigration policy and the migrant child crisis it caused.
Melania Trump said that she hated to see children separated from their families, and she even visited a detention center in Texas while wearing a jacket that said “I really don’t care” on the back.
