Mel B, the Spice Girls alum, wants the world to know the truth regarding her upcoming venture into rehab. The 43-year-old television star explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she’s currently looking to receive treatment for PTSD, rather than alcohol and sex addiction.
Mel said it became “a little bit skewed,” regarding the recent media reports that insinuated she was going for treatment for drug abuse. Mel admitted she’s been in therapy ever since her father passed away from cancer nine years ago.
Following her relationship with Stephen Belafonte, which the star said the audience could read about in her new book, Brutally Honest, Mel is looking forward to getting her life straight.
“No, I’m not an alcoholic. No, I’m not a sex addict,” the reality star remarked. According to the former Spice Girl, she was married for ten years and her relationship was characterized by a lot of “turmoil,” and was “very intense.”
As a result, she suffers from PTSD. During a chat with reporters from The Sun on Sunday, Mel said she planned to go into a rehabilitation facility in the United Kingdom in September of this year.
Her friend, Gary Madatyan, confirmed the news on Tuesday that she’s getting treatment for PTSD. When Gary spoke with Entertainment Tonight, he said: “she’s not sex addicted at all.”
Despite some nefarious media reports, Gary remarked, “she’s on top of it,” and sees a therapist in LA. As it was previously reported, Mel filed for divorce from Stephen back in March of 2017 after they had been married for almost ten years.
However, their divorce became sour very quickly, with allegations of abuse, involving their nanny as well, Lorraine Gilles, who has since disappeared from the limelight. After a lengthy court battle, Stephen won rights to visit his daughter with Mel.
