Megyn Kelly is not going to the Olympics in 2018! Reportedly, the Megyn Kelly Today show host will not head to South Korea because of a decision made by executives at her network, NBC.
Earlier in the month, sources revealed Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie would be taking on NBC’s coverage in South Korea which starts in February.
They’ll be joined by the likes of Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Willie Geist, Natalie Morales, and Dylan Dreyer. The 47-year-old, Kelly, will host during her usual hours on 9 am on weekdays.
Reportedly, one of the primary reasons for Kelly not heading to South Korea is because her coverage of sexual harassment has been particularly profitable for the network. Her ratings are incredibly high, so “she’s doing fine where she is.”
The insider who spoke to Us Weekly revealed that it “made sense” to keep her in New York along with Kathie Lee and Jenna Bush; there’s “zero” tension over the executives’ choices.
As you may know, Megyn has been all over the sexual misconduct claims in the past few months. The wave of allegations against men in power such as Harvey Weinstein has sent a shockwave through not only Hollywood, but through broadcasting, journalism, and several other industries.
The charges against powerful men hit particularly close to home for the Megyn Kelly Today host because she allegedly experienced harassment at the hands of Bill O’Reilly, who recently stepped down. Fox News fired O’Reilly last year due to several claims of misconduct.
The insider close to the executives said Kelly wants to be at home because her show is leading in the ratings when it comes to the #MeToo movement. Around three million people watched her show on Monday, which is a tremendous amount.
