Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas was a guest on Good Morning Britain, and he opened up about missing his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry! Here’s what he had to say!
Thomas Markle revealed that he and his royal son-in-law have had some really engaging conversations about politics, including Brexit and Donald Trump’s presidency.
He also described Harry as a ‘gentleman,’ and ‘very likable.’
The man also opened up about the one phone call when the prince asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
Knowing she would totally be a ‘complement to the royal family,’ Thomas was quick to give them his blessing.
‘My daughter has been a princess since the day she was born,’ he mentioned to the hosts.
As for the invasion of his privacy after the engagement was announced, he said: ‘I’m very proud of her, and I’ll adjust to this. I’ll get over this.’
As you may remember, only days before the wedding, Thomas was involved in a scandal about staging paparazzi photos.
‘They take all kinds of pictures of me that [were] making me look negative. So, I thought this would be a nice way of improving my look. Well, obviously, that all went to hell. I feel bad about it. I apologized for it, and that is all I can do. I can’t do much beyond that. That was a mistake,’ Thomas said about the drama.
Although according to him both Meghan and Harry forgave him immediately and still wanted him at the wedding, due to heart problems that had occurred a few days earlier, he was unable to attend.

‘The truth is that I couldn’t get over what had happened. All of that stuff was working on me. I had a bit of a heart condition. This pushed me a bit further to the point, where I had heart palpations.’
After a few days of feeling better, the heart issues returned and he needed emergency surgery: ‘The doctors said ‘This is what doctors call the widow maker.’ It would have killed me.’
The man claimed that Meghan cried when he told her about not being able to walk her down the aisle or even just being there on her wedding day.
However, he was glad and proud that Prince Charles was the one to replace him.
The father admitted he watched the wedding on TV and spilled tears as well.
