Meghan Markle’s wedding dress will probably stay a mystery until she exchanges vows on May 19, but the actress’s best friend Priyanka Chopra just dropped a major clue about what we can expect. During an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Chopra revealed that Markle has officially picked out a dress and that she cried when she settled on the perfect one.
Markle has kept a tight lid on her wedding plans over the past few months. We’re only a few weeks away from the royal wedding, and insiders claim that Markle’s dress was designed by the British company, Ralph & Russo. Markle has not confirmed the rumors, but there is some evidence that back them up.
For starters, Ralph & Russo are based out of London, which meets one of the traditional requirements. The company has also done work for the royal family in the past. Markle even wore one of their dresses for her engagement photos.
That doesn’t mean she’ll use them again for the wedding, but they are definitely one of the frontrunners. In fact, according to Glamour, bookies in the U.K. overwhelming believe that Ralph & Russo designed Markle’s wedding dress.
“We’ve taken the market back down again because it’s been confirmed pretty much that the designer of the dress is chosen and the dress is ready,” a Paddy Power spokesperson shared.
Kensington Palace, of course, has not said anything about Markle’s dress. Carola Long, a writer for Financial Times, asked Ralph & Russo about the rumors but the company would not comment on the matter. If given the chance to bet, Long revealed that her money would be on Ralph & Russo.
That said, bettors have been wrong about royal weddings in the past. When Kate Middleton tied the knot with Prince William in 2011, most people thought she had hired Bruce Oldfield to design the dress.
Middleton surprised everyone on the day of the wedding when she opted for a gown from designer Sarah Burton. There’s a good chance that Markle will wear something from Ralph & Russo, but we’ll have to wait until the wedding day to know for sure.
Markle and Prince Harry are set to exchange vows inside St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19. The two have not commented on the rumors surrounding the wedding dress, but we can’t wait to see what Meghan Markle chooses to wear on her big day.
