Meghan Markle has made some big changes in her life this past year. She gave up her Hollywood career when she announced her engagement to Prince Harry, and now she is focused on life as a royal. However, during her recent two-day trip to Ireland, the new Duchess of Sussex told a fan that she misses working on the popular USA legal drama Suits.
Life & Style is reporting that an Irish woman named Fiona Moore spoke with Markle after she toured the Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin with Prince Harry, and she told the Duchess that she was a fan of Suits. Moore also told Markle that she misses the show, and Prince Harry’s bride responded: “so do I.”
“She seemed very relaxed and was joking and laughing,” said Moore.
Royal fan Caroline Bates said that Markle was “really nice,” and the Duchess took her time and looked her fans in the eye. Bates added that the former actress is “a breath of fresh air in the royal family.”
A third fan named Heather Nicell said that Markle is a great role model who is likable and relatable.
In her first interview with Prince Harry after they announced their engagement, Markle said that she was giving up her acting career, but she was happy to put Suits behind her.
“I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind — I’ve been working on my show for seven years. So, we were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series, and for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, ‘You know what? I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work as a team with [Harry],'” said Markle.
When the Duchess of Sussex shared that with fans, they immediately compared her to Grace Kelly, who gave up her acting career in the 1950s when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. For more than two decades, Kelly served as the Princess of Monaco, until she died in a car accident after suffering a stroke in 1982.
Even though Markle has been a big hit with royal fans all over the world, her dad Thomas Markle Sr. seems to think that his daughter is “terrified” and “pained” in her new role. In a recent interview, he said that he sees his daughter’s pain in her eyes, face, and smile.
He also revealed that the royal family had shunned him since he staged paparazzi photos and gave a tell-all interview to Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have not publicly commented on her father’s recent claims.
