The rumors of Meghan Markle’s diva ways continue to swirl, and this time the story is that Markle is making some huge demands for the birth of her first child. Is she going to skip the hospital and deliver her baby at home?
A new report claims that Markle is concerned about giving birth at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, which is where Kate Middleton has given birth to all three of her children. Some hygiene scares have recently hit the $10,000-a-night Lindo Wing, and that has Markle worried.

The Duchess of Sussex yesterday attended a meeting with The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) at King’s College London. Her Royal Highness joined university leaders, academics and international scholarship students as they discussed the role of higher education in addressing issues such as human trafficking, modern slavery, gender equality, peace and reconciliation, and climate change. In a speech during the Royal Visit to Fiji in October, The Duchess announced two ACU Gender Grants for the University of the South Pacific and Fiji National University, to fund new learning initiatives aimed at empowering female university staff and promoting gender equality.
According to Radar Online, the private maternity ward, known as “The Royal Ward” has a rating of 2 out of 5 stars in a mandatory government cleanliness test, and the health trust that runs the Lindo Wing was slammed in another standards check because of cleanliness and the disposal of hazardous and toxic materials.
A 2018 report from the UK Food Standards Agency said that the Lindo Wing needed improvement, and the hand washing facilities and pest control needed to be upgraded for good food hygiene.
The poor hygiene ratings made the 37-year-old go “ballistic,” and insiders say that Markle could be considering some alternatives. She is reportedly looking at either a home birth or ignoring royal tradition completely and opting for a different facility if her list of demands is not met.
So, what are those demands? Markle wants a private chef and a personal cleaning crew to get the Lindo Wing up to her cleanliness standards.
“Meghan will be ordering royal lackeys to get reports on the hygiene standards, and she’ll want to ensure everything is bleached to the highest standard,” says an insider. “She is also considering bringing her own chef into the hospital to oversee preparation of her food.”

The insider added that Markle might use this scandal as an excuse to opt for a home birth, which is what Markle wanted as soon as she found out she was pregnant. This would be a huge break from royal tradition, and the source says that senior royals would never let this happen.
The source also says that the Queen would order Markle into the Lindo Wing to stop a home birth.
So, who will win in this fight? According to royal biographer Robert Johnson, before their wedding, Prince Harry raised his voice to let everyone know that, “What Meghan Markle wants, she gets.”
