Meek Mill is finally a free man! The rapper’s legal representative, Brian McMonagle revealed today that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has decided to release him!
As you may remember, back in November, Mill was sentenced to between two and four years in jail for violating his probation for an almost decade-old drug and gun possession case!
The rapper took to social media to address the decision, thanking ‘God, my family, and all my public advocates for their love, support, and encouragement during this difficult time.’
‘While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters, and rallies have helped me stay positive,’ Mill went on.
It only makes sense for him to be so grateful considering he’s been getting a lot of love and support not only from his fans but also from other big names in the industry.
Some of the stars who rallied for the rapper to be freed included Jay Z and Beyonce, who even name-dropped him in their collab with DJ Khaled, titled Top Off.
The lyrics called for the authorities to ‘Free Meek.’
‘To the Philly District Attorney’s office, I am grateful for your commitment to justice. I understand that many people of color across the country do not have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career,’ Meek wrote in yet another tweet.
Close friend Kevin Hart also posted about Meek Mill’s release today.
‘Meek Mill is Frrrrreeeeeeeee. I just left from seeing him in jail with @michaelgrubin and we were just told that he is being released. Woooooooow……Stand Up Philadelphia!!!’
Later on, Michael Rubin shared the same photo and announced that he was on his way to pick the rapper up from prison!
At the time of this article’s publication, Meek Mill has already been released.
