Well, that did not take long. We are only a handful of episodes into the first season of Mayans MC and FX just confirmed that it has already ordered another season from Kurt Sutter and company. The renewal announcement comes after the spin-off crushed expectations and surpassed the early ratings of its parent series, Sons of Anarchy.
Following the renewal, Sutter and co-creator Elgin James released statements thanking fans for their continued support of the franchise.

Sutter gave a quick shout out to Sons of Anarchy for setting up Mayans MC for success and explained how the spin-off “has become its own mythical creature.” James followed that up by thanking Sutter for the opportunity to be a part of something special. He also expressed excitement about getting back in the writing room and ironing out the details on Season 2.
Mayans MC premiered last month and has done well in the ratings department. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series has even surpassed the initial numbers of Sutter’s original show, Sons of Anarchy.
There is still a ways to go as Mayans MC is only four episodes in, but the show is definitely off to a promising start.
Part of the show’s success, of course, is because of Sons of Anarchy’s huge fan base and Sutter’s decision to tie the shows together. This includes featuring cameos from the original show.
On the latest episode, fans were treated with the return of Chucky Marstein, played by Michael Ornstein. As SOA fans will recall, Chucky was introduced early in the series as a former bookkeeper who had his fingers removed because of his compulsive masturbation disorder.
We do not know if Chucky will play an important role on Mayans MC, but his appearance proves that we’ll be treated to more SOA cameos in the future.
New episodes of Mayans MC air Tuesday nights on FX.
