Matthew Perry was on the receiving end of a lot of sympathy on Twitter after he revealed he was in the hospital for a medical procedure. The actor took to the social media platform to say that he was in bed for three months.
On Friday, he wrote, “three months in a hospital bed. Check.” Previously, a representative speaking on his behalf told multiple outlets that he underwent surgery for a gastrointestinal perforation.
Matthew’s rep said in a statement that Perry was immensely grateful for the support he received, but asked for people to respect his privacy during the recuperation process. You can check out his tweet below:

Reportedly, Perry’s illness is also known as a ruptured bowel, a problem that can lead to more serious ailments if it isn’t treated right away and properly, including infections and other complications.
As most fans of the actor know, he played Chandler Bing on Friends, the legendary and trend-setting TV show. In the past, he admitted to struggling with drug addiction, including taking drugs during, before, and after filming.
For many of Matthew’s fans, the revelation that he was a drug addict was very shocking, due to his character on screen, and how well put together he appeared to be. Perry’s case wasn’t that much different from Charlie Sheen, who also struggled with substance abuse problems while working on Two And A Half Men.
Nevertheless, in 2001, Matthew went to rehab. Since then, he has remained sober for a whopping seventeen years. Following the end of the sit-com, Perry secured a few different roles, but not many, unlike his fellow former co-star, Jennifer Aniston.
Previously, Perry revealed that he and his friends in school used to pick on the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. During an interview, Perry said that he and the rest of his crew were merely jealous of Justin’s athletic prowess.
