The first wife of Matt Lauer is worried he may be isolating himself from his loved ones following his shameful Today firing. As you probably remember, at the end of last year, the man was axed by NBC due to allegations of sexual harassment against him.
Ever since then, he completely disappeared from the public eye, and his ex is admitting she hopes he’ll get in touch soon.
‘We have been close friends for years, and before it all came out, he told me to not believe it. He is keeping a very low profile. This is his whole life, I am sure he is devastated,’ Nancy Alspaugh said during a new interview.
Nacy and Matt were married between 1981 and 1988, and according to the woman, she was shocked to hear that Lauer and his wife Annette Roque are getting a divorce.
But while Annette is seemingly getting away from the scandal, Matt’s ex continues to support him.
‘I’m sure he will reach out to me, but I am letting him have his private time,’ Nacy stated, making it as clear as possible that she is not planning on cutting contact with Lauer.
In fact, the woman previously defended him, claiming he would never do the things he is being accused of.
‘I never saw him as a power monger or somebody who would abuse his position in any way. I want to get out the fact that he made a contribution to my nonprofit, and he helped me when my husband died. The selfless, giving part of him, which people tend to forget whenever this kind of a situation comes up. He’d give you the shirt off his back if you really needed it. He did that for everybody,’ she said.
