Matt Lauer had his life turned upside down last year following the wave of allegations against men in broadcasting and the entertainment industry. The result of which cost Matt his job after reports came out that he was behaving inappropriately toward female co-workers.
The former host of the Today Show, these days, is managing to keep his personal life under wraps. According to a source, “Matt doesn’t speak with a lot of his old friends as much as he used to. This whole thing has been very stressful for him.”
“Matt is more focused on making sure his kids are taken care of, rather than worrying about his career. He made a lot of money while working for NBC, so he’s good on that end.”
Matt, 60, and his estranged wife, Annette Roque, are still in the middle of a divorce and are living in the same house together in the Hamptons with their kids, Jack, Thijs, and Romy, who are 17, 11, and 14, respectively.
The insider added, “they’re still figuring things out. When the scandal broke last year, Annette was super upset with him, and she wanted blood. Now that things have calmed down a bit, she’s sticking to her guns.”
“They’re deciding on how to go about dividing the assets and haven’t worked it out in writing yet. They’ve got about $20 million in limbo right now.”
As it was previously reported, Roque actually filed for divorce from her husband once back in 2006, using the terms, “cruel and inhumane behavior,” as grounds for their separation.
However, just three weeks later, she took everything back. In 2014, Roque was again looking at a divorce lawyer. And when it finally broke that Matt was sleeping with a woman from work, it was the nail in the coffin for Annette, who was no longer willing to struggle in her relationship with the NBC alum.
