Matt Heafy From Trivium Reveals Former Bassist Brent Young Has Passed Away
Brent Young, the former bassist for the heavy metal band, Trivium, has passed away a new report from Billboard revealed. The frontman and rhythm guitarist for the band, Matt Heafy, announced the sad news on his Instagram account.
On the 26th of September, Matt wrote that Brent, who worked with them on their debut record, Ember to Inferno as well as their Blue Demo, had died. His cause of death wasn’t revealed. Heafy expressed his thoughts and prayers for Brent on social media.
Paolo Gregoletto, who currently plays bass for the band, took to his IG account as well to pay tribute to the fallen musician. Gregoletto claimed he didn’t know Brent very well because they had only met a few times in the past, but his presence in the band was instrumental in the beginning stages of the group’s career.
Gregoletto added that he had played a lot of the songs from Ember to Inferno live and his inclusion was a “big part of the early years of the band.” Over the last few years, Young began working with the ex-Trivium drummer, Travis Smith, in the creation of the band, Blacknova.

We have just been given word on the passing of one of the early members of Trivium, Brent Young. Having had a couple wonderful years with Brent in the Florida local band scene, doing the Blue demo and ETI together, the very first European mini-tour and first USA tour together – I have nothing but amazing memories of a wonderful person. Our hearts and condolences go out to all of Brent’s family and friends.
Thus far, it’s not clear what led to Brent Young’s death. Back in 2018, the metal community lost another member with the death of Oli Herbert, the lead guitarist for the band, All That Remains, who was found dead outside of a pond at 44-years-old.
TMZ claimed at the time that the authorities had gone to Oli’s home in Stafford Springs to find a missing person. After the police searched the area, they found he had passed away by a pond. Following the news of his death, the authorities never disclosed any other details.
All That Remains’ Facebook page read that they were “devastated to learn Oli Herbert” had died. Fans of the group know he was one of the original members of the group which was founded in 1998. They released their first record, Behind Silence and Solitude, in 2002.
Oli later played on the records, Madness, The Order of Things, A War You Cannot Win, For We Are Many, Overcome, and The Fall Of Ideals.
