Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island premiered on October 23, 2018, and is already a fan favorite. The Lifetime spinoff of Married at First Sight features several past participants in the original series combined with new faces and sets them on an exotic island. Unlike Married at First Sight where a team of professionals make matches and choose who will get married, Honeymoon Island allows the participants to make their own pairs.
The spinoff series also varies where the participants either make a match or not. If they don’t make a match within a day and a half they are off the show. There are 16 participants on the show varying in age from 26-40 comprised of eight men and eight women. Those that pair up will continue on the series and decide if they want to get married.
Two contestants made an instant connection on the premiere episode: Shannon and Kimber. You may see a clip from the episode in the video player below.

As time is limited on the series, the participants must rely on instant chemistry or physical attraction more so than on Married at First Sight. With Married at First Sight the couples don’t know what each other looks like until walking down the aisle.
In Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island, the couples must pair up quickly and physical attraction is what quickly draws the participants together.
The show makes for some intense moments where it may seem there is an instant attraction, yet the couples want to speak to everyone so they don’t rule anyone out. Some couples may surprise you and some people who you thought would pair up might end up alone.
Though there isn’t a team of professionals playing matchmaker Pastor Calvin Roberson and Dr. Jessica Griffin are on hand to help things move along smoothly.
