According to new reports, Oscar winner Marisa Tomei is set to guest star in the upcoming season of The Handmaid’s Tale! To be more exact, the star will be appearing in the second episode of the Emmy winning drama so you can look forward to that!
The announcement was made by the show’s executive producer Bruce Miller on Sunday during the Television Critics Association press tour.
We know that the said episode will be set in the colonies, but the type of character the woman will be playing is yet to be announced.
‘We were lucky to have Marisa Tomei guest star. I was excited as well!’ Miller stated when the room gasped in excitement.
‘It was a complete pleasure,’ he added.
Meanwhile, star of the show and executive producer Elisabeth Moss revealed that the second season is going to be ‘darker than season one if that is possible.’
The actress went on to say that it will also be focusing mainly on motherhood – both literally and figuratively.
‘We have locked into the idea of motherhood in the second season in a whole new way. Bruce and I talked about the impending birth of the child – this baby that is growing inside of her – as a bit of a ticking time bomb and the complications of it are wonderful to explore. It is a wonderful thing to have a baby, but she is having it potentially in this world that she may really not want to bring it into it,’ Moss teased.
The actress went on to explain that ‘If she does have the baby, it will be taken away from her and she cannot be its mother so obviously, it is really complicated and it makes for some good drama.’
