Mariah Carey has confessed that she has been suffering from bipolar disorder and now, she returned to social media to show gratitude towards her many fans who have been showering her with love and support. According to the singer, she has struggled with the mental health problems for nearly two decades now.

The celeb took to her Instagram account to share a pic of herself in which she was smiling brightly this weekend.

In the caption, she made sure to thank her followers for the support and returned the favor by encouraging them to stay positive.

‘I have been hard at work, feeling inspired by each of your stories and uplifted by your overwhelming support. Let's continue to encourage each other on our journeys,’ she wrote.

Just last week, Mariah explained that back in 2001 she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which means that she deals with ‘moods cycling between high and low over time.’

However, her condition, in particular, bipolar II, lacks the said extreme highs, causing her to be very prone to depression.

Fortunately, she has been diligently taking her meds, and it has helped the superstar a lot.

Carey explained that she decided to reveal her diagnosis to ‘get to a place where the stigma is lifted from people going through anything alone.’

Mariah Carey joins a pretty long list of fellow stars who have come out about their bipolar disorders.

The late Carrie Fisher, Jane Pauley, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Demi Lovato are just a few of the most known celebs diagnosed with it.

Sources have told us that her ex, Nick Cannon was proud of Mariah after she went public about the condition.

‘He is proud of her for coming forward and using her platform for good. He loves her as the mother of his children and always wants what is best for her.’
