Since most Christmas music seems to be old holiday classics like Jingle Bells and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, it’s not the easiest thing in the world for a pop star to introduce new holiday songs that having any kind of staying power. But, in 1994, Mariah Carey changed the Christmas music game with her hit All I Want For Christmas Is You, and 25 years later, she is celebrating the song with a new video and a limited engagement holiday tour.
According to Too Fab, All I Want For Christmas Is You from Carey’s album Merry Christmas is one of the best-selling singles of all time in any genre, as it has sold 16 million copies worldwide. To celebrate the anniversary of the album – and the enormous success of the track – Carey is re-releasing a two-disc deluxe edition of Merry Christmas and she has given fans a new video of the song that features unreleased footage of Carey from the 1990s.
In addition to the video and the re-release of the album, Carey is hitting the road starting November 22nd for a few shows in her All I Want For Christmas Is You holiday tour, which is presented by the Hallmark Channel.
“Mariah will bring an extravagant, festive outing that only she can deliver to limited cities across the U.S. this winter,” reads the tour’s press release. “Her special run of can’t-miss shows will bring out the festive spirit in fans of all ages.”
