Madonna Offers To Sublet Her NYC Apartment To Prince Harry & Meghan Markle In Bizarre Instagram Video
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are living in a friend’s “mega-mansion” on Vancouver Island in Canada, and they are reportedly house hunting in Los Angeles. But, Madonna thinks they should head to New York and sublet her Central Park West apartment.
In a bizarre Instagram video, the singer offered the couple her $7.3 million apartment on the Upper West Side, and she tells them not to “run off to Canada” because “it’s boring there.”
“I’ll let them sublet my apartment on Central Park West,” Madonna said in the video while sitting in front of a makeup mirror. “It’s two-bedroom, it’s got the best view of Manhattan. Incredible balcony … No, Buckingham Palace has got nothing on CPW.”
According to Page Six , Madonna’s apartment is in Harperley Hall, which is located at West 64th Street and Central Park West. In 2018, the singer lost a three-year legal fight with the co-op after they implemented a new rule that wouldn’t allow her children or domestic staff to live in the apartment unless she was “in residence.”
Madonna didn’t challenge the rule until two years after it was implemented, and she lost her case against the co-op because she missed the legal deadline to file a claim.
Even though the co-op “prefers that each apartment be occupied by its Shareholder,” their rules do allow Madonna to sublet the apartment. However, she would need written approval from the board of directors.
It doesn’t appear that Madonna has lived in the New York apartment in recent years. She moved to Lisbon, Portugal in 2017 so her soccer-playing son David Banda could join the Portugese club Benfica junior squad.
Madonna’s video is the latest in a series on Instagram that features the singer vlogging about different subjects while someone on her staff holds the camera. She is currently in London performing shows for her Madame X tour.
As for Harry and Meghan, they have been laying low on Vancouver Island with their son Archie Harrison after they announced last month that they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be splitting their time between the UK and North America, and some reports claim that the couple is looking for a summer place in Los Angeles.
