Lucy Hale spoke out amid the reports that she may have been sexually assaulted. Celebrity Insider reported recently that Lucy posted a cryptic tweet where she emphasized with victims of sexual harassment, assault, and other misconduct.
The point of her message was people don’t understand what it’s like to be victimized until it happens to them. Hale wrote, “I think along with a lot of other people we’ve all had our experiences like that and until it’s happened to you,” you don’t understand how it can affect you.
During an interview with Us Weekly, the 28-year-old star said “it’s an exciting time” even though at one point it was very dark for many.
She thinks “the pay off will be extraordinary,” and feels “honored” to be around so many powerful women. When the reporters asked her if it was challenging to talk about her story, she said, “no,” because it “comes straight from the heart.”
As Celebrity Insider previously reported, the Pretty Little Liars alum wrote on her social media on the 18th of January that she never really “understood sexual assault until tonight.” She added that her “dignity and pride was broken” and was “completely at a loss for words.”
As you may know, Lucy’s statements in support of the #MeToo movement come at a time when Hollywood is experiencing a paradigm shift.
Following the claims of sexual misconduct against many prolific stars, people are talking more and more about how to create a workplace that is safe and comfortable for everyone.
Most recently, William H Macy came under fire for saying that “men feel like we’re under attack” in the middle of the #MeToo movement. Many people took to Twitter to slam him, with comments like, “Poor William H Macy, he’s sad that women complain about being assaulted while men make more money than women for the same work.”
