It’s been a rough week for Star Wars fans after rumors abounded that LucasFilms was halting production of a few of their Star Wars spin-offs. Sources close to the industry told a few outlets yesterday that the rumors were “fake news” and they’re continuing to produce films in the iconic series.
Moreover, Disney and LucasFilms revealed they even have movies coming down the tubes that we haven’t heard of yet. However, with that said, LucasFilms is taking a more cautionary approach to their next films.
As it was previously reported, Solo: A Star Wars Story, didn’t do nearly as well at the box office as other movies in the franchise, leading the studios to rethink their strategy.
Now, in a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm are continuing on their path to Star Wars creations. Reportedly, the studio is focusing hard on how to make the movies successful, and the production and marketing of the movies will play a crucial role in their success.
The Boba Fett movie currently in development is one of the productions undergoing a “reconfiguration.” If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll know that the series has been marred with controversy because of the supposed “destruction” of traditional narratives and reworking of the characters.
Fans of the franchise have accused Disney and Lucasfilms of “political correctness,” rather than emphasizing storylines, action, and the epicness created in other Star Wars movies.
And because of the relative failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was based on the franchise’s most popular character, the film studios are reconsidering their next moves, a wise choice, no doubt.
And reportedly, there is the talk of bringing back Ewan MacGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, these are merely rumors at this point. Of all of the latest installments, the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie has been the most eagerly anticipated.
