Everyone seemed to be getting along well during this season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills until Dorit Kemsley – someone Lisa Vanderpump recommended for the show – decided to drop the c-bomb at Kyle Richards’ dinner party. This was the first in a string of mistakes for Kemsley, and her behavior has started to cause some awkward moments on the show.
Camille Grammer and Teddi Mellencamp are already tired of Kemsley’s antics, but is her best friend, Vanderpump, over her bad behavior, too?
Vanderpump recently stopped by the Daily Dish podcast and hosts Megan Segura and Rachael Roberts asked her about how she deals with Kemsley’s actions on the show and the awkward moments they can create.
“I mean, I kind of try to defuse it by laughing,” Vanderpump. “Because there’s no really appropriate way you can call Camille Grammer a ‘See you next Tuesday’ and get away with it.”
Vanderpump said that she had a feeling something would go wrong at Richards’ party, and she even tried a few times to keep Kemsley from putting her foot in her mouth. She said she warned her friend to think before she spoke, and even tried to put a napkin over her mouth.
The owner of SUR says she gave the signals that Kemsley needed to pay attention, but ultimately, she was on her own.
She went on to say that you must take responsibility for what you say on a reality show.
The 57-year-old admitted that she had her own issues with Kemsley when Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine did a photo shoot of the swimwear designer.
Vanderpump is Editor-in-Chief of the publication, and she says Kemsley was extremely particular about her hair and makeup, even though the photos were highlighting her jewelry.
She said Kemsley made her hair and makeup a bigger deal than it should have been, and Vanderpump let her know how she felt about the situation.
Kemsley attempted to make things right with Grammer and Mellencamp by going on an “apology tour” during a glam circle that Mellencamp organized as a thank you for her birthday trip to Las Vegas.
Grammer said that she felt Kemsley’s apology was sincere, but she isn’t sure she could have any relationship with her because she doesn’t trust her. Grammer thinks that Kemsley is self-absorbed and questioned if she drinks too much.
As for Mellencamp, she was upset with Kemsley after she had to wait nearly an hour for their happy hour date, but Kemsley thought they were supposed to meet at 4:30 instead of 4:00.
Mellencamp didn’t like that Kemsley brought Richards into the conversation because she thought that the communication should have been between just the two of them.
