Lena Headey revealed that there is a Game of Thrones deleted scene featuring her character, Cersei Lannister, that could have taken the story in a whole new direction! Apparently, the said scene would have meant a very different season 8.
The actress was in attendance at a comic book convention in Germany when she told the audience that ‘We shot a scene which never made it into season 7, which was where I lose my baby. And it was a very traumatic and great moment for Cersei, but it never made it in.’
The star went on to say that ‘I kind of loved doing that because I thought it would’ve served her differently. Of course, we are not exactly sure what made the show’s creators scrap that scene, but we cannot say it isn’t interesting to at least think about how that moment may’ve changed things.’
As you know, season eight of the popular show was met with mixed reactions, and even the stars have expressed disappointment over the direction the storyline took.
One of the parts that ground people’s gears was Cersei’s death, crushed by the castle ruble when Dany decided to destroy the whole city with her dragons.
What most fans would have wanted, was a much more satisfying punishment killing since the character was so evil, instead of accidentally dying.
Even the actress who portrayed Cersei admitted she was not too happy about the way she died and that she wanted a ‘better’ death scene.
‘Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on the show. So I was sort of gutted. But I think they could not have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb,’ she told The Guardian back in May.
