GQ recently published a new article dedicated to the late rapper and activist Nipsey Hussle, who was tragically murdered earlier this year.
The piece by Gerrick D. Kennedy, called “The Light of Los Angeles,” draws attention to the deceased’s many talents and positive qualities, as well as the legacy he left to the music world.
Besides, the article also features the thoughts and stories from some of Nipsey’s closest friends and family, including his girlfriend of six years and mother of his son, actress Lauren London.
Lauren looked back on when she met with the rapper through familiar friends, who set them up.
Eventually, the two of them started seeing each other, even if they never were on a proper first date, as Lauren described.
However, though the actress opened up and talked about some intimate details from her relationship, she did not want to share anything about the last days before Nipsey was shot down.

Lauren explained it was still very hard for her, and she had to be strong for her children, especially with Kross Asghedom, a young kid of 3, who still asks for his father and does not understand why he no longer comes home to his family.
Lauren shared: “I can’t talk about our last day together, and I still have to be strong for my children. I have a three-year-old that’s still asking, ‘Where is Daddy?’ He doesn’t understand the concept of death. I haven’t gotten to digest the fullness of it, because it’s overwhelming and I’m in the process of healing myself and my family. But I absolutely feel the love of the city.”
The model and actress also revealed the last gift that Nipsey gave her: “A couple days before he passed, he bought me three books. One was a book about parenting. He loved Power vs. Force. He swore on that book and got a lot of game from it. I mean, between him and I, we d*** near had a library.”
Multiple colleagues of Nipsey shared some of their memories with him too. Meek Mill described the late fellow artist as being cool and collected.
Mill further recalled the two of them collaborating on a new joint album and said three or four songs were ready, but then the tragic death of Nipsey happened.
The idea behind the project was to combine the skills of the two rappers, who were very excited to work together.
