The Bachelor contestant revealed brand new details about what happened! Lauren Bushnell got candid about her split from Ben Higgins like never before!
During a sit-down with Reality Steve for his podcast, Lauren talked about the doubts she felt before the final rose and also what led to their split.
‘There is so much doubt in your mind, and I remember waking up that morning, and I had an idea I was possibly going to get engaged, and I remember having so much anxiety about it, which looking back, I do not know if that was my gut being like, wait, timing-wise, this is too rushed or what. But I remember being anxious that morning to the point where like I snapped at my producer, which I’d never done. We were very close and good friends. I still remember locking myself in the bathroom and being overwhelmed and anxious.’
‘Now looking back, I wonder if it was my gut being like, this is not the right timing. You guys need more time. I do not know. Who knows?’
As you may remember, the former pair met on The Bachelor at the beginning of 2016.
Although Lauren was the one that got proposed to in the end, by May of 2017, the two had broken their engagement.
The pair had a spinoff show titled Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? that only aired for one season.
Lauren confessed that she was already too overwhelmed to feel any excitement about their joint project.
In addition, she struggled to understand why Ben said ‘I love you’ not only to her but also to JoJo Fletcher, the runner-up and that obviously affected their relationship a lot.
‘We had lots of talks and by no means was my arm twisted or anything. At the end of the day, I made my decision, but I remember that initially the show was supposed to be about him running for office. He wanted to get into politics. And not only did I not want to do a reality show, but I also really did not want my life to be a politician’s fiancée or wife or whatever.’
But Lauren made it very clear that their breakup was a result of a ‘combinations of reasons.’
