Lark Voorhies Talks Mental Health And Being Excluded From The Saved By The Bell Reboot
Lark Voorhies is one of several main characters who has not been asked to join the Saved By The Bell reboot. In an upcoming episode of Dr. Oz, she dives into her feelings about that and her mental health.
Lark made headlines for her behavior and appearance years ago. Her mother claimed in 2012 that her daughter has bipolar disorder; however, the actress denied the report.
She took to Instagram yesterday to thank her new doctor and promote her appearance on Dr. Oz.
Lark shared a sweet photo from the set of the show alongside a caption that read: 'Hello everyone! I want thank everybody who has been so supportive throughout my journey these last several years. It was very hard to find the right way to talk about some of the challenges that I go through on a daily basis. Please tune in this Wednesday to the Dr Oz show to learn about living with a mental disorder that many people do not understand. I am very grateful to Dr. Oz, Dr. Modir, my mother and all of you that have supported me and wished me well through some difficult times. I hope to bring more mental health awareness to help others going through the same challenges. Thank you for sharing your stories to me over the years of how strong you all have been too! I look forward to a brighter future and seeing the great things that can be accomplished!'
During a preview of the show, Lark and her mother talk about how challenging it is for Voorhies to have a voice in her head and not know where it comes from. After years of being misdiagnosed, the 45-year-old is on the right path to get some answers and help.
She also talks about not being asked to join the Saved By The Bell reboot.
'I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members events. Yet, of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision. With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.'
Hopefully, the actress is asked back to help with the show in some capacity and it's great to see that she is using her platform to speak up about mental health.
