Lamar Odom Gets Candid About His Overdose And The Longterm Problem He Still Has While On DWTS

Lamar Odom opened up about his dark past while on Dancing with the Stars! The basketball player revealed some details about his drug problem and eventual overdose that almost killed him back in 2015.
While Lamar and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd got the lowest score on the season premiere episode of the dancing competition, it sounds like he is determined to change that.
During the rehearsal, he kept asking Peta to remind him the steps, something she noticed and asked him about.
That is when Lamar revealed that he struggles with short-term memory loss, a result of his overdose.
‘Four years ago, I was living in Las Vegas, went to go hang out in a place I had no business. I had an overdose,’ he shared.
However, Lamar insisted that he did not do any drugs that night and believes that someone put something in his drink.
Either way, it was really bad and ‘While I was in a coma, I had 12 strokes and six heart attacks.’
Peta was focused on the future rather than the past however and she really helped him improve in the competition.
That being said, Lamar received praise from the judges for nailing their salsa dancing.
Bruno Tonioli said that his much more relaxed body language was a ‘small step in the right direction.’
Len Goodman also acknowledged that it must be really difficult to dance when you are so tall.
Either way, a ‘Well done’ from Len was also received!
In the end, the judges gave him 12/30, which was with one point higher than what he’d gotten the week prior.
The former NBA star did not try to hide the fact that he was really nervous about the dancing competition in the beginning.
But when chatting with ET before the season started, he seemed more positive.
‘Be consistent and persistent, and to have will to face my fear,’ Lamar said when asked about his motto while on DWTS.
