Kylie Jenner is the subject of a new controversy after it was learned she trademarked her baby’s name, Stormi, early in her pregnancy and has named a new makeup line after the newborn. The Daily Mail published an article discussing the decision and some of the comments on social media have been fierce While some feel that Kylie is just taking ownership of her daughter’s name as the sisters also did with their own names, others think it’s a form of exploitation.
Kylie Jenner unveiled the new makeup line “The Weather Collection” on Instagram and many people are excited about the new products. The new makeup line hits on February 28, 2018, at 3 pm PT. Kylie announced that the line of new, glitter cream eyeshadows called “Eye of the Storm” is directly inspired by her baby girl Stormi.
According to the Daily Mail report, Kylie Jenner wanted to cash in on her daughter’s name, but that may not be an entirely fair assessment of the situation.
The other Kardashian and Jenner sisters have also trademarked their names in order to protect their brand.
If Kylie hadn’t trademarked the name “Stormi” one can only imagine how many products would soon hit the market with the moniker.
By trademarking the name Kylie not only protects her daughter’s name and image, but also the earning potential Stormi has from using her name in future ventures.
Kylie Jenner and Stormi’s father Travis Scott have been very protective of Kylie’s pregnancy and baby Stormi. Kylie didn’t even confirm she was pregnant until after Stormi was born.

Not everyone sees Kylie’s decision to trademark her baby’s name as a wise business choice. Some have left negative comments on social media networks saying that Kylie is profiting off her baby.
Still, others said they felt the move was sweet and showed that Kylie is thinking of what’s best for her daughter’s future and might be taking a few lessons from momager Kris Jenner.
It might not be long before one day Kylie Jenner is running the career and business endeavors of her child!
What do you think? Do you feel Kylie made the right decision in trademarking her daughter’s name? Do you think if she didn’t other people would exploit the name, Stormi Webster?
