KUWK: Kourtney Kardashian Talks Racism And Her Responsibility As A Mother To Teach Her Kids All About Their Privilege
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star revealed that she is taking real steps to make sure that her kids can have a better future. Kourtney Kardashian addressed the current situation in America and revealed that, as a mother, she also has the responsibility to teach her three little ones all about their white privilege.
Kourt shared the candid message on her social media platform of choice, and stressed that it’s really important she discusses racial inequality in the country with her young ones, no matter how uncomfortable that may be.
‘As a mother, there’s a natural instinct to protect my kids from anything that could make them feel sad or unsafe. The pain and the suffering inflicted by racism isn’t a thing of the past and I bare a responsibility to speak with my children honestly and often about it, even when the truth’s uncomfortable. I have to make sure that they understand what it means to have white privilege and take the time to learn and discuss Black History, beyond one short month out of the year,’ the Poosh founder dished.
As fans of KUWK know, Kourtney shares three kids with her ex, Scott Disick, ages 5, 7 and 10.
The concerned mother also addressed the senseless killing of George Floyd by the police and shared her hopes that she can ‘encourage other mothers to join me in using this tragedy as a learning lesson, to allow our children to feel comfortable enough to come to us about anything. Allow conversation without judgment, and learn from our kids too. We don’t know it all. My children sometimes ask questions I may not know the answers to, so we explore them together.’
The Kardashian made it very clear that she has always been on the right side of things but she still feels like she has a lot to learn.
As a result, she mentioned that she will be educating herself more on the topic so that she can be a better mother, aunt, friend, and person, overall!
