Kit Harington has changed his mind on male sexism. The Game of Thrones actor was criticized last year following his statement that he felt like he was objectified in Hollywood as well, pretty much comparing his situation to the one of females in the industry. Now, he has admitted that he was ‘wrong’ doing so.
‘I was wrong there,’ he stated about his initial claim that he felt ‘demeaned by Hollywood’s double standard.’
‘Sexism against men isn’t something I should’ve really said. I think what I meant was, being objectified. At that time, I did feel objectified, and now I have learned how to control that. Look, I do think men can get objectified,’ the actor clarified, adding that he has learned to ‘shut it down’ when that happens.
However, Harington went on about being objectified, even in a sexual way, giving as an example a graphic that used arrows to draw attention to his crotch area.
The star admitted that in the past, that type of thing made him very uncomfortable but realized that it did not make his position in society the same as that of women.
