Kimora Lee Simmons came out in support of her ex, Russell Simmons, following the allegations of misconduct against him. Celebrity Insider reported that several women had accused him of misconduct ranging from assault, harassment, and rape.
In her statement released on social media, she said she had known Russell for twenty-five years as they were married, divorced, and remained friends since then.
Kimora called the allegations into question because they are “nothing like the person” she has known. According to Russell’s ex-wife, he has worked tirelessly to support disenfranchised communities and has always conducted himself in a professional and compassionate manner.
As you may know, her social media support of Simmons follows the revelation of the lawsuit filed by Jennifer Jarosik which is valued at $5 million.
The woman is suing him for battery and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Russell said the allegations are “absolutely untrue” and “horrific.”
In cases of mishap in consensual relationships, Russell said he had “already apologized” for inappropriate behavior, actions which aren’t punishable by law due to their lack of severity.
However, Simmons is fighting back in court at the moment to clear his name and states he will prevail. The allegations are just one of many to come out against prolific figures in the entertainment industry as of late.
The case to start them all were against Harvey Weinstein, who allegedly victimized around 80-100 women.
Other men had to step down from their respective positions such as Matt Lauer who faced misconduct allegations but of a less-serious nature. The #MeToo movement and the Time’s Up initiative appeared as a result of the recent charges against men.
