It’s been months since the Kevin Hart cheating scandal and the eyes of the world have moved on to Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian’s drama. Now that it seems that everyone has forgotten about what happened, Kevin Hart revisited the subject.
In the new music video for a song that is a play on the comedian’s name, “Kevin’s Heart” finds Hart in a very self-aware state. The visual follows the actor as he bears the burden of embarrassment and judgmental stares as he ventures through menial tasks, like going to the grocery store, post-marriage woes.
The clip then takes you to the temptation that Kevin faces every day with women trying to flirt with him.
In Hart’s expressions, you’re able to tell that there is no one who feels worse about the sins he’s committed more than himself. He then finds compassion from a stranger who places a forgiving hand on his shoulder and just like that — everything is alright.
The lyrics of the song also deal directly with the situation at hand, reading: “She my number one, I don’t need nothing on the side/Said that I was done for good and don’t want no more lies/But my phone be blowing up, temptations on my line/I stare at the screen a while before I press decline/But she plants a seed and it still lingers in my mind/Told myself I’m strong enough to shake it and I’m trying/But I’m only human, I know loving you’s a crime/If I take this cookie now one day I’ll do the time.”
J Cole’s words probably resonate with anyone who faces temptation in a relationship or marriage. Luckily, it wasn’t hard to convince the “Jumanji” star of starring in the video co-directed by the musician himself.
Scott Lazer, who also directed the story, explained to Vulture: “From the moment I saw him he was just, like, down. And we had a call with him a few days before and I walked him through the whole treatment and he was laughing the whole time; it’s a funny video.”
This comes months after Kevin Hart was forced to confess that he cheated on his wife, Eniko Parrish, while she was pregnant due to the fact that a sex tape was about to leak featuring him and the woman involved.
