Kenya Moore: Inside Health Scare Before Welcoming Her First Child
Kenya Moore is finally a first time mother and she could not be any happier! As People and Us Weekly also reported, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her hubby, Marc Daly are now the proud parents of a baby girl they named Brooklyn Doris Daly.
As fans know, Kenya shared the pregnancy news with Bravo host Andy Cohen for the first time back in April!
‘We will definitely be welcoming a boy or girl in late this year,’ she stated at the time.
But while becoming a mother at 47 felt like a miracle for the reality TV star, the pregnancy was not without complications!
Just last weekend, Moore took to social media to tell her followers that she had been dealing with preeclampsia, which caused her feet to swell a lot and for Kenya to gain no less than ‘17 lbs in ONE week due to severe swelling and water retention, high blood pressure, and excess protein in urine. This is NOT normal!’
Mayo Clinic explains that preeclampsia is a ‘complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system, most often the liver and kidneys.’
But even though Moore went through such a health scare, she and her husband stayed positive as they patiently waited to welcome their first child.
That being said, the woman opened up about hearing the baby’s heartbeats during the first ultrasound.
‘I could not believe this miracle was growing inside me. And its heart was beating so fast!’ she captioned the clip.
During an interview with E! News back in September, she also updated fans on the pregnancy, saying: ‘Everything is good and healthy.’
