Katy Perry Reveals Her Battle With Depression And New Lease On Life
Katy Perry recently covered Vogue India. The pop star who has been a bit silent when it comes to music lately has opened up on her struggles during the past few years.
Katy is set to be married to actor Orlando Bloom. This will be their second attempt at a serious relationship after a brief split.
Like many other celebrities, Katy has allowed public scrutiny to affect the way that she sees herself. It caused her to sink into a deep depression during 2017 and 2018.
She explained o the magazine: 'I became depressed and I did not want to get out of bed. In the past, I had been able to overcome it, but this time something happened that made me fall down too many flights of stairs. I had to really go on a mental health journey. For the press, every few months I turn into ‘Perry, the Pinata’. But thankfully, I don’t get my validation from them anymore.'
With over a decade in the game, Perry basically grew up in the spotlight.
She went on to say: 'I’ve been in the public eye for 12 years and I’ve made many mistakes. I’m human, and I still want to try. I don’t want to be defeated or become a recluse. I want to live life. And doing that means you might occasionally trip, but it’s not about how you fall—it’s about how you get up.'
It's not a surprise that with age and experience, her goals are much different than they were years ago.
Perry spoke of the future and she's going to accomplish some amazing things.
'I want to be involved in environmental companies, I want to go back to school [psychology and philosophy will be her subjects of choice] and I want to influence good people to run for office.'
