It seems like, although Katie Holmes has managed to live a normal life and move on from her former husband, Tom Cruise, the actress does not shy away from the occasional shade throwing at the father of her daughter.
Speaking about her daughter, Katie has talked about her with pride and adoration recently in an interview for ‘Entertainment Weekly’ The 37 year old actress could not help but share what Suri meant for her and how the girl encouraged her to try new things, like directing her first film ‘All We Had’, for instance.
She mentioned that the mother-daughter bond in the movie was only so realistically portrayed because of the real life relationship between her and her 10 year old daughter: “She gets a special thanks for everything, [for] every job I do, because she makes every day great and awesome and better,” She admitted for ET. The actress and director even included a shout out to her daughter in the movie credits to make her gratefulness official. “I know myself better because of her, so she’ll always get a special thanks,” she added.
But of course the little girl has such a close relationship with her mother as they only really have each other. Her father, Tom Hanks has been missing out on the family life and on her daughter’s growth, even missing her birthday this past May.
Katie has thrown a big party for Suri at Dave & Buster, where she invited her friends as well but the young girl was distraught and even cried when she realized that her dad would not show up in the end. “Suri was miserable,” a source told Radar in May. “All she wanted was time with her dad, but Tom didn’t even send a present!”
Maybe this distance from family happened because of Tom’s link to Scientology as the absence from his daughter’s life is not a singular case. Earlier this year, Tom even refused to see his dying mother.
