Kate Middleton is about to give birth to her third child with Prince William. Middleton’s official due date is sometime in April, which means the baby could come at any minute. With the royal family about to expand by one, here’s an inside look at Middleton and William’s birthing plan.
Middleton has officially taken a break from her royal responsibilities and is not expected to return for a couple of months. William has also cleared his calendar for the next week, though it isn’t known when he will resume his royal duties after the baby is born.

After Middleton had Princess Charlotte, William took six weeks off his job as an ambulance pilot, which he quit this past summer to take on additional royal duties.
As far as the birth is concerned, Middleton is expected to have the baby any day now. According to Express, experts believe the Duchess of Cambridge will have a short labor experience because of her previous two pregnancies, which is definitely good news for her and the family.
“Kate was in hospital for ten house when she gave birth to Charlotte,” royal analyst Jennie Bond explained, adding that Middleton will probably “be in for even less this time around.”
Middleton will give birth inside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London, the same place she had her first two children: Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Hospital workers have already made preparations for their royal guest and set up press barriers just outside of where Middleton will stay. We don’t know when Middleton will have the baby, but the best odds have her giving birth either on a Wednesday or Thursday.
Middleton, of course, has everything planned out to the tiniest detail. She even has a team stationed at Kensington Palace that will go into action as soon as labor starts. The team will help Middleton get to the hospital and make sure her stay is comfortable. They also have a backup plan just in case something goes wrong.
After Middleton has the baby, members of the royal family, starting with Queen Elizabeth II, will be notified first. The couple will then release a statement on social media containing the baby’s birth date, weight and sex. They will likely release the name at a later date. If all goes well, Kate Middleton is expected to return home with a day or two.
The royal family clearly has everything planned out and we can’t wait when the newest royal finally arrives.
