Kate Mara Stars In Disturbing New Series ‘A Teacher’ That Premieres November 10
Kate Mara stars in a new streaming FX on Hulu series that some are calling disturbing. A Teacher is set to premiere on November 10, 2020, and will see Kate Mara portray the character Claire Wilson, a high-school teacher who is involved in an inappropriate, sexual relationship with a student. The student is played by Nick Robinson and the character’s name is Eric Walker. Some are already taking issue with the premise of the series and it hasn’t aired yet. Some feel that it is being described as a “romance” or that the character Claire Wilson becomes “romantically involved” with her student and there are many who are asking why Claire’s character isn’t being described as a sexual predator.
Because the television series focuses on a female teacher with a male student, it is already being talked about in terms of whether it will “soften” the abuse rather than how it would be portrayed if it was a male teacher with a female student.

Many people seem to be concerned that FX will glorify or romanticize the relationship between Claire and Eric rather than delve into the psychological pathology that caused the relationship in the first place.
The series comes after the death of real-life teacher Mary Kay Letourneau who “fell in love” with her 12-year-old student Villi Fualaau. Though she was convicted of rape, Mary and Villi had two beautiful children together, eventually married, and then divorced. Villi was at her side with his children when she died.
To this day, many question whether Villi truly loved Mary Kay of his own volition or if it was part of the abuse he had been subjected to due to being a child victim of rape.
Needless to say, A Teacher is bound to spark plenty of debate, discussion, and controversy. Depending upon the content and how it is presented, it might spark protests by various groups.
What do you think? Are you going to tune in and watch A Teacher? The series premieres on November 10, 2020, and will stream exclusively on FX on Hulu.
