We hear that Kanye West was scared that maybe his controversial comments about slavery would affect his marriage with Kim Kardashian so much that she would choose to file for divorce. During a new interview for The New York Times, the famous rapper shared that he had a ‘real conversation’ about the Kardashian’s reaction to his statement.
As you may remember, Kanye received a lot of backlash after he suggested that slavery in America was ‘a choice.’
Now, he is saying that it was completely taken out of context.
‘There was a moment when I felt like after TMZ, about a week after that, I felt the energy levels were low, and I called family members and was asking, you know, ‘Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?’ So that was a real conversation.’
But publicly, Kim only showed support to her husband even after the scandal and defended him as much as possible.
One insider told E! News at the time that ‘Kim and Kanye have a solid relationship, even with what’s going on right now. She really loves and supports her husband. Even if they have different views and opinions, she knows his heart.’
As for how people reacted to his statement about slavery, Kanye said: ‘I said the idea of sitting in something for 400 years sounds—sounds—like a choice to me, I never said it’s a choice. I never said slavery itself—like being shackled and chained—was a choice. That is why I went from slave to four hundred years to mental prison and to this and that. If you look at the clip, you really see the way my mind works.’
