Kanye West is not only a rapper and entertainer but a staple in the fashion industry on account of his Yeezy sneakers and spandex. According to new reports, the husband of Kim Kardashian is fighting to secure the rights to the brand name, Yeezy.
In court documents obtained by multiple organizations, Kanye is currently fighting in court with a company called the Fujian Baby Network who works primarily out of China.
The Fuijan Baby Network is attempting to file the paperwork to trademark the name, “Yeezy Boost,” an apparent rip-off of Kanye’s line.
It may seem confusing to some fans that he doesn’t own the entire label, considering he started using the term for his shoes back in 2013, and legally obtained the trademark in 2017.
However, according to reports, Kanye didn’t file the documents to own the name for his clothing line. The company in China is currently attempting to profit from that fact, as they are hoping they can cash in on Kanye’s lucrative brand name.
Kanye’s company went to the United States Patent and Trademark Office to hopefully stop the company from being able to use his name. This news comes after Kim and Kanye revealed they would be welcoming their seventh season collection soon.
Yeezy’s organization has found itself in this predicament before, but on the opposing side. Jordan Outdoor Enterprises claimed that Kanye’s brand illegally used their camouflage design.
If fans are wondering what Kanye has been up to, it seems clear that he’s been working on his fashion brands and all of the problems which come part-in-parcel with running a lucrative business.
