Kandi Burrus Explains Why The Reality Show She Was Producing Starring 'RHOA' Co-Star Marlo Hampton Fell Through
Earlier this year it was reported that Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker were producing a reality show starring her "Real Housewives of Atlanta" co-star Marlo Hampton. It was later revealed that the show was canceled and now we know why.
The Jasmine Brand was the first to break the story when they wrote the show series titled "Hotlanta" will star Marlo and others who weren't confirmed. The storyline was supposed to be similar to "RHOA" with Kandi staying behind the scenes.
Less than two weeks after the news broke, the show was pulled with the reason being that Marlo had too many demands. Burruss visited "The Jenny McCarthy Show" where she cleared things up.
"[It dropped] right when we were about to get started. I don't wanna put any blame on anyone the talent was being a little difficult with getting things done and they weren't getting things done by the deadline basically and the network got fed up and was like 'you know what okay if you're showing us that you're going to be difficult at this point then we'll move on."
She first explained that this project had been in the works for years. It started two years after Nene Leakes and Hampton stopped being friends.
"It was in development for a while. She said 'I really want to do TV again I really want to do something' and so at that point we started trying to develop something we pitched it to networks and [it got picked up.]"
The show may have been Hampton's golden ticket to stand alone stardom if it worked out. The original report claimed: "She’ll likely leave Housewives, especially since she’s never been an official cast member. Marlo will really get to shine."
Do you think Marlo should have her own show? What do you think the real reason was for "Hotlanta" getting axed?
