I want to speak directly to the Black women in our country. Thank you. You are too often overlooked, and yet are asked time and again to step up and be the backbone of our democracy. We could not have done this without you.

Someone commented: ‘Human is human, regardless of colour. Finally, stop talking about black or white. Greetings from Germany.’
One other follower said: ‘The 2018 lottery winners from Muslims affected by racist Trump prevented us from entering the country of justice and freedom, and I could not fulfil my only dream. Will those who lost because of Trump’s racist decree be compensated?’
A commenter posted this message: ‘Enough with the gender divide. 80% of black male voters showed up for your struggle campaign. Are you only interested in creating a faux base that will give you cover for any trash you throw at us and call it progress?’

Someone else wrote: ‘The number of white women here upset that Kamala is sending out a tweet to Black women specifically saddens me. 91% of Black women voted for Biden/Kamala 55% of white women voted for Trump. We should be able to get a 3 sentence tweet without you feeling we dont deserve it.’
Lots of celebrities congratulated Kamala and they made their point via social media.
‘She’s Speaking! She’s speaking! What a way to go into the week. Our first Black and Indian-American woman Vice President, @KamalaHarris. In the words of the VP-elect, ‘she may be the first, but she will not be the last.’#BidenHarris2020 #HerStory,’ Toni captioned her post.
Lots of other people cheered for Kamala and Joe Biden.
