TMZ reported today that Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly are getting a divorce after just two and a half years. The outlet says Kacey and Ruston filed for divorce. Representatives for both of them described it as a “painful decision.”
In a statement to The Associated Press, Kacey, and Ruston confirmed they were splitting up after much consideration and discussion. Fans of the couple know they first got married in October 2017, in Tennessee, after meeting the year prior in 2016.
Back in November 2019, fans already began speculating on their relationship’s potential collapse. For instance, Kacey brought Gigi Hadid to the Country Music Awards as her date, and just a month later, Kacey got rid of her wedding photos on IG as did Ruston.
Kacey and Ruston are just one among many celebrity couples to break up this year, including Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Ricci, as well as Dr. Dre.
It’s clear that 2020 has been a tough time for celebrity relationships, but 2020 proved to be a problematic year for many.
Kacey’s relationship with Ruston isn’t the only tornado she’s dealt with either. Earlier this year, the star was in the headlines due to the Tennessee tornados.
A reported 19 people were killed as a result of the storms, and after the news hit the press, celebrities, including Kacey, revealed how they were going to help out. Musgraves announced at the time of the storms that she was going to sell many of her outfits to help pay for the victims.
Musgraves, the county star, took to her IG to say that she was going to sell much of her old wardrobe through Stage to Closet. It was a big change of plans as well because she initially had plans to work with the same company for purposes of urban forest preservation.
Once the news of the tornado’s devastation got out, she chose to reallocate the money to the victims of the storms. In her Instagram story, she wrote, “heartbroken for East Nashville.”
