Justin Bieber is back in full swing when it comes to new music. Although fans haven’t gotten a solo song from the pop star in a while, his new collaboration with Chris Brown is making headlines and doing numbers.
The song, blatantly titled Don’t Check On Me, is about one ex telling another ex not to worry about them anymore.
Some of the lyrics to Justin’s verse read: ‘Might run across your mind but don’t worry ’bout me, no/My heart is back in one piece, it ain’t skipped a beat, no/Feeling rested up, I ain’t missing sleep, no-oh/Don’t take it personal if I can’t reply now/I’m distant ’cause I don’t wanna be reached now/Won’t let the ghosts of our past weigh my future down.’
The chorus is even bolder, stating: ‘Don’t check on me/Oh, don’t check on me/If we’re not together, then it’s probably for a reason/Every heartbreak has its season/And it looks like winter for you.
Fans took it as a direct message to his ex Selena Gomez. They even went as far as to assume that Justin could have possibly written his lyrics after Selena contacted him concerning his recent post where he discussed his battle with depression.
Bieber offered no explanation as to where the inspiration to his lyrics came from but he did use a photo of himself and Hailey Baldwin to make it clear that he only has eyes for his wife.
The image was accompanied by a caption that read: ‘These are the moments I live for.. alone time with you refreshes my soul. You are so out of my league and I’m okay with that! You are mine and I am yours #foreverandever #tilthewheelsfalloff.’
What do you think about the lyrics to Don’t Check On Me? Do you think the 25-year-old had his ex on his mind while writing his verse?
