As the authorities in Chicago continue to investigate the attack on Jussie Smollett, he has decided to break his silence and clear up some of the rumors.

The Empire star claimed that he is telling the truth and that men who are Donald Trump's supporters indeed assaulted him.

In a statement to Essence , Jussie said he will give more details about the incident soon and added: “Let me start by saying that I’m OK. My body is strong, but my soul is stronger. More importantly, I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to put into words truly.”

The talented singer went on to say: “I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level. Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served. As my family stated, these types of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers and non-gender conforming siblings daily. I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident. We will talk soon, and I will address all the details of this horrific incident, but I need a moment to process.”

He concluded by: “Most importantly, during times of trauma, grief, and pain, there is still a responsibility to lead with love. It’s all I know. And that can’t be kicked out of me. With Love, respect & honor…Jussie.”

Many fans decided to wish Jussie well.

One person replied: "Happy he’s doing ok. Hopefully, he can recover mentally and physically at his own time. Humble positive and kind-hearted. #loveoverhate #prayers are sending love and support all the way from the. It's so sad that LGBTQ people are STILL being attacked. Blessings for him."

Another commenter added: "He needs security guards smh.I'm glad he's ok... and no one should be judging him till he tells his side of the story."

A critic said he made up the entire story: "Why would handing over his phone help investigators, is there something on it? The first thing he does is talk to a tabloid magazine to let us know that he’s okay? Okay secure the bag I guess Hearing this whole thing was a publicity stunt. At least the MAGA hat portions."

The Chicago Police Department recently posted pictures taken from a surveillance video of “potential persons of interest” in the case and asked the public for their help.
