Juice WRLD's Mother Says Her Biggest Fear Was The Potential For Her Son To Overdose
Fans of Juice WRLD respect him for a number of reasons, and his honesty about his own struggles with mental health and substance abuse was just one of them. Hot New Hip Hop picked up on comments from Juice WLRD's mother this week in which she said that her biggest fear was that her son would overdose.
The outlet pointed to one of his songs, "Wishing Well," as an example of his honesty. In the song, the rapper alluded to his ambiguous relationship with drugs, insinuating that he needed them but they were also ruining him.
Carmella Wallace, Juice WLRD's mother, did an interview on ABC 7 Chicago in which she touched on her son's death.
As most know, Carmella Wallace created a new organization, the Live Free 999 charity, which is a group dedicated to helping those struggling with drug addiction and mental health. Carmella explained that she never intended to hide the reason for her son's death, even if it was a drug overdose.
Carmella said there are a lot of people who are struggling with abuse every single day. It's one of the reasons why she chose to reveal it because it's a lesson to those who are fighting the same battle.
According to Wallace, she told her son to seek out proper counseling and medication rather than choosing to do it himself. She claims she told him her biggest fear was an overdose, and it's one of the reasons why she talks about it so candidly now.
Additionally, Carmella claims she never thought of her son as a superstar, even though he was so successful in his career. She claimed Juice WRLD "was an icon" but "Jarad was my son." She says she never treated him like he was a superstar.
According to Carmella, she went to one of his shows and girls were trying to take a selfie with him. At the time, he was still living with her, so she told him to take out the trash just to keep him humble.
