Joy-Anna Duggar had no idea motherhood would be this difficult! Despite the fact that the reality TV star is used to dealing with her eighteen siblings, she admitted that becoming a new mom is not how she imagined.
In a sneak peek for tomorrow’s Counting On episode, Joy-Anna talks about all of the challenges that came along with welcoming baby Gideon.
‘I have to wake him up at least twice a night to feed him and make sure that he is gaining weight because he will just sleep and won’t eat. Being a mom’s in a lot of ways easier than I thought and then in a lot of other ways, harder than I thought,’ she says in the clip.
‘I knew my mom had gone through a lot with all of us, but I didn’t think it was that hard because I had always taken care of kids myself. But it has given me a whole new appreciation for moms out there.’
But Joy-Anna is not the only one in the family who is struggling with the responsibilities of parenthood.
Austin Forsyth, Joy-Anna’s husband, also confesses in the video that before having his son, he’d never changed a diaper.
‘The first week it was, ‘Is the baby still breathing?’ I’d just lay there and see if I could hear it and many times I got out of bed, you know, making sure that [he] was breathing. I think I am finally coming to the realization that there is always going to be something for the rest of my life and the rest of his life. I think that is just part of my job as a dad,’ the man says.
