Jon Paul Steuer, the child actor who appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as the show, Grace Under Fire, died at the age of 33. On the Facebook page of his band, P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S., as well as his restaurant called, Harvest At The Bindery, it was revealed that he had passed away.
At this time, his cause of death isn’t apparent as it wasn’t made public. However, there are rumors that his death was due to a drug overdose, but this hasn’t been confirmed by any sources close to Jon or his family.
Jon didn’t have a wife and kids but was survived by his parents, Paula and Tom. On P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S.’s social media page, they said they had lost their singer and someone who brought light-heartedness and fun to their band.
It is with heavy hearts and saddened minds that we announce the passing of our dear friend and singer Jonny Jewels, AKA…
As you may know, in 1990, Steuer became the first actor to play Worf’s son, Alexander Rozhenk on the series Star Trek: The Generation, which went on to become a cult classic. The series is widely thought of as being one of the best sci-fi series of all time.
However, he only appeared in one episode. When speaking with The AV Club in 2015, he said that he wanted to perform as Alexander again, but Jon had grown “only an inch or something” so he couldn’t play the role.
Necessarily, the man couldn’t play the character because the producers of the show wanted him to portray a different age, which he apparently couldn’t because it was out of his reach as a six-year-old.
He said the reality of the situation was that he couldn’t take the role on because throughout the series, the character got progressively got older and he was never the right age to portray the character. Either way, our hearts, and thoughts go out to Jon as well as his family and friends.
