Jon Cryer To Take On The Role Of Lex Luthor On 'Supergirl!'
Fans of CW’s Supergirl can now breathe a sigh of relief because it looks like they’ve found their perfect Lex Luthor! According to ET, Jon Cryer is set to take on the iconic character, appearing in the recurring role for the very first time in episode 15 of this season!
Those who keep up with the show’s storyline were already expecting to see the character facing Supergirl as well as his sister Lena Luthor and were curious to find out who would take on the role.
Executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller revealed in an official statement that Cryer was their number one choice!
‘We are enormous fans of Jon, and he was our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor. Jon's a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in Superman IV also brings an added layer of legacy to this casting. We are beyond thrilled to welcome Jon Cryer to the Supergirl family.’
Furthermore, Rovner also chatted with ET not too long ago, sharing a little bit more about the exciting character’s big introduction to the series!
‘I think we were lucky to have the opportunity to use him on this season and he just weaves into the story. He weaves into the narrative that we are telling, so I think it is a good opportunity to have him,’ he explained to the outlet about Superman’s well-known enemy from the comics.
This has definitely been an amazing season for Supergirl, especially after making a huge step forward for representation in entertainment by adding the very first transgender superhero on TV – Dreamer, played by Nicole Maines, who, even better, is actually trans in real life!
