After a reporter questioned Johnny Depp’s health because of his gaunt and pale appearance in recent photos, the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas actor has allegedly canceled all of his upcoming media appearances. While touring with his band, The Hollywood Vampires, Depp posed for pics with fans at the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, and his health immediately became a popular topic on social media.
According to The Daily Mail, a German journalist asked Depp about the photos, and it caused “panic among the large Depp camp.” In the pics, the actor looks noticeably thinner while wearing a black tee that read, “Stay Humble or Be Humbled,” and a black cap that read FUGLY Los Angeles.
After the publicity crisis, a source revealed that the 55-year-old was in “good health” and was not suffering from any ailments. And in subsequent photos taken in Warsaw, Poland, – while on his tour with his band that also includes Alice Cooper and Joe Perry – he appears fuller and healthier.
After fans questioned Depp’s look on social media – asking if he was okay and wondering if he was sick or possibly preparing for a role – an insider ignored their concern and said that “Johnny is having a great time on the tour playing with the guys.”
When talking about performing with The Hollywood Vampires, Depp says, “My day job is a completely different animal, I suppose. What do I get from this that I normally don’t get? I get me!”
He added that when he is on stage with Cooper and Perry, he gets the same feeling he had as a kid – freedom. Depp explained that when you are working on a movie, there is always someone telling you what to do. Music gives him the freedom that movies don’t. And, on top of that, “it’s really f*****g fun.”

Depp is still one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood and currently has five films in the works, including The Invisible Man, Richard Says Goodbye, City of Lies, London Fields, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Production on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald ended late last year, and Depp’s role of Gellert Grindelwald required bleached eyebrows and a shaved head. But it isn’t clear if that part, or any of the others, called for him to lose weight.
It is possible the weight loss is a result of his role in Richard Says Goodbye, where Depp plays the titular character who decides to live life to the fullest after doctors diagnose him with a terminal illness.
Johnny Depp has not commented on the rumors surrounding his gaunt appearance and health.
