During a brand new interview, John Krasinski explained why he and wife Emily Blunt teamed up to make horror movie A Quiet Place! Apparently, growing up, the man was ‘the complete opposite’ of the genre, so what exactly pushed them to make their own scary film?
‘We had just had our second daughter and, you know, I am a super sensitive, emotional person, so I think I was probably wide-open when I read the script,’ he started.
The actor couple is not only starring in the movie but also co-wrote and directed it together!
He went on to explain that ‘The idea triggered something inside me about protecting and parenting, and I thought maybe I could make it a metaphor for parenthood – like the fact that no matter what, there will come a time when you do not have control over what your children do, what they say, or think, and you just hope the preparation was enough to get them through and for them to survive.’
What a great idea! And the fact that it started from something parents can totally relate to is remarkable.
The film recounts the story of a family of four that is hunted by an unknown force.
The twist is that it detects its victims by sound, so they live in complete silence.
Krasinski shared that ‘There was something beautiful about putting a family in a situation which, without giving too much away, it is the one family in the world that needs to talk and cannot. They are going through something they should be talking about with each other as well as a therapist, and they cannot.’
‘We not only thought the story was that unique and different that there was no way our marriage could supersede it, but, weirdly, our marriage fit right in.’
