According to new reports, Storm Chasers alum, Joel Taylor, who passed away earlier this year, died due to an overdose of MDMA. Joel left this mortal toil while on a cruise ship at the beginning of 2018.
TMZ reports that The Bureau of Forensic Sciences of Puerto Rico confirmed that MDMA was the caused of death. The experts also found trace amounts of ketamine in his system.
As it was previously reported, the authorities found Taylor in his hotel room back in January, and witnesses said they saw two of his friends carrying him off the dance floor.
At the time, the outlet claimed he had “consumed multiple substances.” Taylor was on a cruise filled with other celebrities, including with performances from Olivia Newton-John as well as Galantis.
Coincidentally, several people were arrested for drug possession as they boarded the cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale. Joel was thirty-eight-years-old. However, The New York Daily News claimed that Taylor had been knocked unconscious after consuming GHB.
GHB, also known as the “date rape drug,” is widely acknowledged for its effects on the central nervous system, and is often the drug of choice for people who need to make another docile. Commonly, doctors prescribe it to those in need of therapy for sleep disorders.
The cruise ship on which he boarded was chartered by a private company on the 20th of January and was supposed to return to Florida on Saturday morning.
The Blast confirmed that the ship docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Curiously, it’s very uncommon for people to overdose on MDMA, unless they die due to a mixture of substances, or from dehydration.
It’s possible that the combination of drugs in his system contributed to his passing, as mixing stimulants and depressants can often have a lethal effect. Nevertheless, we send out our words of condolence to the friends and family of the small-screen star.
